Stress management

Ever since the beginning of time, humans have been equipped with the fight or flight response. In the caveman days, it came in handy for when our ancestors were met with ferocious beasts. Our brain would release stress hormones (ie. cortisol and adrenaline), which enabled them to fight the beast with the burst of energy, or flee from the ferocious beast as fast as possible. In the present day, we rarely face these life-threatening circumstances, but our brain is still wired to respond similarly to stressful event.

Buildup of stress can affect our mental health (feeling overwhelmed, constant anxious state, quick to anger, and many more) and physical health (difficulty sleeping, using liquor, drugs or even food as a means to comfort). Life can throw many stressful events at us. We have no choice as to what life throws at us, but we can choose the way we respond to these events. No matter how bad the situation may seem, there are always things that we can do to regain control. Make an appointment with me now to see how you can regain control of your life.
